Our response to the digital centre of government

DSIT Response
We share some thoughts on the new digital centre and its bold vision to reform services and improve collaboration and efficiency.

The public sector is gearing up for a technological revolution with the launch of the digital centre of government. This bold project seeks to reform public services, making them more efficient, user-centric, and accessible, while reducing bureaucratic hurdles and creating a unified digital experience. By bringing services together, harnessing AI, and building more resilient infrastructure, the government aims to bridge the digital divide and address challenges like data-sharing inefficiencies and legacy systems. Our team has delved into the announcement and shared some thoughts on how it could redefine technology’s role in serving people and businesses alike.

Jen Byrne, Managing Director - Digital Transformation

“The creation of the digital centre is a vital step towards giving government the confidence to be bold in its approach to delivering better value for users and more efficient services. By building collaboration across departments, breaking down silos, and investing in the right digital infrastructure and talent, this initiative could mark a turning point, creating the solutions we need to deliver growth and benefit people and business everywhere.”

James Reeve, Chief Client Officer

"Even more important than this announcement is how DSIT has gone about creating an agenda for their leadership of digital in government. The Department should be praised for its open approach, drawing on truly diverse experts as well as a cross-section of the public sector, suppliers and civil society like never before. The proof of the review will, of course, be in the delivery. However, this is an approach that we hope other departments will adopt as they plan their digital programme over the parliament."

Thomas Kohut, Principal Partner - Transforming Government

'This review is a really thorough piece of work that reflects a lot of the challenges we see in partnering with central government to deliver digital work. I'm particularly excited to read that the government will explore "policy digital readiness". Some of the biggest opportunities for digital, design and data people to have an impact in the public sector is to work early with policy teams to make sure legislation takes into account end users, technology and delivery when it's drafted.'
